The Lectionary According to the Common Calendar

Psalm 47

1 O clap your hands, all ye people!
Shout unto God with the voice of triumph!
2 For the LORD Most High is to be feared;
He is a great King over all the earth.
3 He shall subdue the people under us,
and the nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us,
the excellency of Jacob whom He loved.

5 God has gone up with a shout,
the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises unto our King, sing praises!
7 For God is the King of all the earth;
sing ye praises with understanding.

8 God reigneth over the heathen;
God sitteth upon the throne of His holiness.
9 The princes of the people are gathered together,
even the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong unto God;
He is greatly exalted.

Luke 17:11-19

11 And it came to pass as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as He entered into a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" 14 And when He saw them, He said unto them,

"Go, show yourselves unto the priests."

And it came to pass that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks; and he was a Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answering said,

"Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 There are none found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger."

19 And He said unto him,

"Arise; go thy way. Thy faith hath made thee whole."

2 Timothy 3:1-9

1 This know also: that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without selfcontrol, fierce, despisers of those who are good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. From such turn away. 6 For of this sort are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth -- men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further, for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

Isaiah 57:11-21

11 "And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered Me, nor laid it to thy heart?
Have not I held My peace even of old, and thou fearest Me not?
12 I will declare thy righteousness and thy works,
for they shall not profit thee.
13 When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee;
but the wind shall carry them all away, vanity shall take them.
But he that putteth his trust in Me shall possess the land,
and shall inherit My holy mountain, 14 And shall say, `Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way; take up the stumbling block out of the way of My people.'"

15 For thus saith the high and lofty One
who inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy:
"I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth;
for the spirit should fail before Me, and the souls which I have made.
17 For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth and smote him;
I hid Me and was wroth, and he went on waywardly in the way of his heart.
18 I have seen his ways and will heal him;
I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
19 I create the fruit of the lips;
peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near," saith the LORD; "and I will heal him.
20 "But the wicked are like the troubled sea when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked."

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 22:29

Seest thou a man diligent in his business?
He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before men of low estate.
