The Lectionary According to the Common Calendar

Psalm 133

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head that ran down upon the beard,
even Aaron's beard that went down to the skirts of his garments.
3 It is as the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion;
for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Psalm 134

1 Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD,
who by night stand in the house of the LORD.
2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD!
3 The LORD who made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion!

John 17:24-26

24 "Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which Thou hast given Me; for Thou loved Me before the foundation of the world.

25 "O righteous Father, the world hath not known Thee, but I have known Thee, and these have known that Thou hast sent Me. 26 And I have declared unto them Thy name, and will declare it, that the love wherewith Thou hast loved Me may be in them, and I in them."

Revelation 11:1-14

1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod; and the angel stood, saying, "Rise, and measure the temple of God and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is outside the temple, leave out, and measure it not, for it is given unto the Gentiles; and the Holy City shall they tread under foot for forty and two months. 3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth." 4 These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks, standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth and devoureth their enemies; and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. 6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy, and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. 7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and kindreds, and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and a half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another, because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 11 But after three days and a half, the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them that saw them. 12 And they heard a great voice from Heaven, saying unto them, "Come up hither!" And they ascended up to Heaven in a cloud, and their enemies beheld them. 13 And that same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth part of the city fell; and in the earthquake were slain seven thousand men, and the remnant were seized with fear, and gave glory to the God of Heaven.

14 The second woe is past; and behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

Wisdom of Solomon 3:1-9

1 But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
and there shall no torment touch them.
2 In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die;
and their departure is taken for misery,
3 and their going from us to be utter destruction;
but they are in peace.
4 For though they be punished in the sight of men,
yet is their hope full of immortality.
5 And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded;
for God proved them, and found them worthy for Himself.
6 As gold in the furnace hath He tried them,
and received them as a burnt offering.
7 And in the time of their visitation they shall shine, a
nd run to and fro like sparks among the stubble.
8 They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people;
and their Lord shall reign for ever.
9 They that put their trust in Him shall understand the truth;
and such as be faithful in love shall abide with Him;
for grace and mercy are to His saints,
and He hath care for His elect.

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 28:13

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper,
but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
