The Lectionary According to the Common Calendar

Psalm 150

1 Praise ye the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary;
praise Him in the firmament of His power!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
praise Him with the psaltery and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
praise Him with stringed instruments and organs!
5 Praise Him upon the loud cymbals;
praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals!

6 Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD!
Praise ye the LORD!

John 21:1-14

1 After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way showed He Himself: 2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of His disciples. 3 Simon Peter said unto them, "I am going fishing." They said unto him, "We also go with thee." They went forth and entered into a boat immediately; and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. 5 Then Jesus said unto them,

"Children, have ye any meat?"

And they answered Him, "No." 6 And He said unto them,

"Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find."

They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it in for the multitude of fishes. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said unto Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girded his fisher's coat unto him (for he was naked) and cast himself into the sea. 8 And the other disciples came in a little boat (for they were not far from land, but, as it were, two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fishes.

9 As soon then as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon and bread. 10 Jesus said unto them,

"Bring of the fish which ye have now caught."

11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty three; and though there were so many, yet the net was not broken.

12 Jesus said unto them,

"Come and dine."

And none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who art Thou?" knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus then came and took bread and gave it to them, and fish likewise. 14 This is now the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was risen from the dead.

Revelation 22:1-9

1 And he showed me a pure river of the Water of Life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, there was the Tree of Life, which bore twelve kinds of fruit and yielded her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. 4 And they shall see His face, and His name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there, and they will need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light. And they shall reign for ever and ever.

6 And he said unto me, "These sayings are faithful and true," and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show unto His servants the things which must shortly be done.

7 "Behold, I come quickly."

Blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

8 And I, John, saw these things and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. 9 Then said he unto me, "See that thou do it not, for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them that keep the sayings of this book. Worship God!"

Ecclesiasticus 44:1-15

1 Let us now praise famous men,
and our fathers that begot us.
2 The Lord hath wrought great glory by them
through His great power from the beginning:
3 such as did bear rule in their kingdoms, men renowned for their power,
giving counsel by their understanding, and declaring prophecies;
4 leaders of the people by their counsels, and by their knowledge of learning meet for the people,
wise and eloquent are their instructions;
5 such as found out musical tunes,
and recited verses in writing;
6 rich men furnished with ability,
living peaceably in their habitations.
7 All these were honored in their generations,
and were the glory of their times.
8 There be some of them that have left a name behind them,
that their praises might be reported.
9 And some there be, who have no memorial, who have perished, as though they had never been,
and have become as though they had never been born, and their children after them.
10 But these were merciful men,
whose righteousness hath not been forgotten.
11 With their seed shall continually remain a good inheritance,
and their children are within the covenant.
12 Their seed standeth fast,
and their children for their sakes.
13 Their seed shall remain for ever,
and their glory shall not be blotted out.
14 Their bodies are buried in peace,
but their name liveth for evermore.
15 The people will tell of their wisdom,
and the congregation will show forth their praise.

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 31:10-12, 30

Who can find a virtuous woman?
For her price is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil
all the days of her life.
Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain;
but a woman who feareth the LORD, she shall be praised!
