The Lectionary According to the Common Calendar

Psalm 123

1 Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes,
O Thou that dwellest in the heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters,
and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God
until He has mercy upon us.
3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us,
for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease,
and with the contempt of the proud.

John 15:9-11

9 "As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you. Continue ye in My love. 10 If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

Revelation 3:14-22

14 "And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: 'These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, "I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing," and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable, and poor and blind and naked, 18 I counsel thee to buy from Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich, and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear, and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me. 21 To him that overcometh, will I grant to sit with Me on My throne, even as I also overcame and am set down with My Father on His throne. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches!'"

Zechariah 6:12-13

12 and speak unto him, saying, `Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, "Behold the Man whose name is The BRANCH! And He shall grow up out of His place, and He shall build the temple of the LORD. 13 Even He shall build the temple of the LORD; and He shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon His throne. And He shall be a priest upon His throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both."'

Zechariah 7:8-14

8 And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying, 9 "Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, `Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassions every man to his brother. 10 And oppress not the widow nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.' 11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. 12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in His Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts. 13 "Therefore it has come to pass that as He cried and they would not hear, so they cried and I would not hear," saith the LORD of hosts. 14 "But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned; for they laid the pleasant land desolate."

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 41:1

O death, how bitter is the remembrance of thee to a man that liveth at rest in his possessions,
unto the man that hath nothing to vex him, and that hath prosperity in all things, yea, unto him that is yet able to receive meat!
