Psalm 2

1 Why do the heathen rage,
and the people devise a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
3 "Let us break Their bonds asunder,
and cast away Their cords from us."
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh;
the LORD shall hold them in derision.
5 Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath,
and vex them in His sore displeasure:
6 "Yet have I set My King
upon My holy hill of Zion."
7 "I will declare the decree:
The LORD hath said unto Me, 'Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten Thee.
8 Ask of Me, and I shall give Thee the heathen for Thine inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.'"

10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings;
be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,
lest He be angry and ye perish from the way,
when His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.

Luke 4:31-37

31 And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath days. 32 And they were astonished at His doctrine, for His word was with power. 33 And in the synagogue there was a man, who had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with Thee, Thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art Thou come to destroy us? I know Thee and who Thou art -- the Holy One of God!" 35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying,

"Hold thy peace, and come out of him!"

And when the devil had thrown him in their midst, he came out of him and hurt him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, "What a word is this! For with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out." 37 And His fame went out into every place in the country round about.

Philippians 2:1-11

1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tenderness and mercies, 2 fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord and of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than himself. 4 Look not every man to his own things, but every man also to the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,

6 who, being in the form of God, 
thought it not robbery to be equal with God,
7 but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, 
and was made in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in the fashion of a man, 
He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death--even the death of the cross.
9 Therefore God also hath highly exalted Him, 
and given Him a name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, 
of things in Heaven and things on earth and things under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, 
to the glory of God the Father.

Job 2

1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. 2 And the LORD said unto Satan, "From whence comest thou?" And Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down upon it." 3 And the LORD said unto Satan, "Hast thou considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one who feareth God and escheweth evil? And still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst Me against him to destroy him without cause." 4 And Satan answered the LORD and said, "Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. 5 But put forth Thine hand now and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse Thee to Thy face!" 6 And the LORD said unto Satan, "Behold, he is in thine hand; only spare his life."

7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. 8 And he took him a potsherd with which to scrape himself, and he sat down among the ashes. 9 Then said his wife unto him, "Dost thou still retain thine integrity? Curse God, and die!" 10 But he said unto her, "Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?" In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

11 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came every one from his own place: Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him. 12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off and knew him not, they lifted up their voice and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven. 13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spoke a word unto him; for they saw that his grief was very great.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 22:23

Be faithful to thy neighbor in his poverty, 
that thou mayest rejoice in his prosperity. 
Abide steadfast unto him in the time of his trouble, 
that thou mayest be heir with him in his heritage; 
for a mean estate is not always to be contemned, 
nor the rich that is foolish to be held in admiration.
