Mark 11:12-19 12 And on the morrow, when they had come from Bethany, He was hungry; 13 and seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He might find any thing thereon. But when He came to it He found nothing but leaves, for the time for figs was not yet. 14 And Jesus spoke and said unto it,
And His disciples heard it. 15 And they came to Jerusalem. And Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who sold doves. 16 And He would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple. 17 And He taught, saying unto them,
18 And the scribes and chief priests heard it, and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all the people were astonished at His doctrine. 19 And when evening had come, He went out of the city. 2 Corinthians 11:16-33 16 I say again, let no man think me a fool. But if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast of myself a little. 17 (That which I now speak, I speak it not from the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence as boasting. 18 Since many glory in the flesh, I will glory also.) 19 For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise! 20 For ye suffer if a man bring you into bondage, or if a man devour you, if a man take from you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face. 21 I speak as reproached, as though we had been weak. However it be, whereinsoever anyone is bold (I speak foolishly), I am bold also. 22 Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I. 23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more -- in labors more abundant, in stripes beyond measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths often. 24 From the Jews five times I received forty stripes less one. 25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned; thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day adrift in the deep; 26 in journeyings often, in perils from waters, in perils from robbers, in perils from mine own countrymen, in perils from the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27 in weariness and painfulness, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. 28 Besides those things which are external, there is that which cometh upon me daily: the care for all the churches! 29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is offended, and I burn not? 30 If I must glory, I will glory in the things which concern mine infirmities. 31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not. 32 In Damascus, the governor under Aretas the king guarded the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me; 33 but I was let down by the wall in a basket through a window, and escaped his hands. 1 Kings 2:1-12 1 Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, 2 "I go the way of all the earth. Be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man; 3 and keep the charge of the LORD thy God to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, and His commandments, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest and whithersoever thou turnest thyself, 4 that the LORD may continue His word which He spoke concerning me, saying, `If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee,' said He, `a man on the throne of Israel.' 5 "Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins and in his shoes that were on his feet. 6 Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoary head go down to the grave in peace. 7 But show kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at thy table; for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother. 8 And behold, thou hast with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the LORD, saying, `I will not put thee to death with the sword.' 9 Now therefore hold him not guiltless, for thou art a wise man and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoary head bring thou down to the grave with blood." 10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David. 10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David. 11 And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem. 12 Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was established greatly.
