Scripture Reading for
Common Calendar Year
(beginning January 1st)
Authorized VersionTM NAVTM)
According to the Common Calendar
24 O LORD, how manifold are Thy works! In wisdom
hast Thou made them all;
the earth is full of Thy riches.
25 So also is this great and wide sea,
wherein are innumerable creeping things, both small and great
26 There go the ships;
there also is that leviathan, whom Thou hast made to play therein.
27 These all wait upon Thee,
that Thou mayest give them their meat in due season.
28 What Thou givest them, they gather:
Thou openest Thine hand, they are filled with good.
29 Thou hidest Thy face, they are troubled;
Thou takest away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
30 Thou sendest forth Thy Spirit, they are created;
and Thou renewest the face of the earth.
31 The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever;
the LORD shall rejoice in His works.
32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth;
He toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
33 I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
34 My meditation of Him shall be sweet;
I will be glad in the LORD.
35 Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth,
and let the wicked be no more.
Bless thou the LORD, O my soul!
Praise ye the LORD!
14 Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple
and taught. 15 And the Jews marveled, saying, "How knoweth this man
letters, having never learned?" 16 Jesus answered them,
"My doctrine is not Mine, but
His that sent Me. 17 If any man will do His will, he shall know of the
doctrine whether it be from God, or whether I speak from Myself. 18 He
that speaketh from himself seeketh his own glory; but He that seeketh
the glory of Him that sent Him, the same is true, and no
unrighteousness is in Him. 19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet
none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill Me?"
20 The people answered and said, "Thou hast a devil. Who goeth
about to kill thee?" 21 Jesus answered and said unto them,
"I have done one work, and ye
all marvel. 22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision (not because
it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and ye on the Sabbath day
circumcise a man. 23 If a man receive circumcision on the Sabbath day,
that the Law of Moses should not be broken, are ye angry at Me because
I have made a man every whit whole on the Sabbath day? 24 Judge not
according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
2 Peter 1:1-11
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have obtained like precious faith with us through the
righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God
and of Jesus our Lord, according as 3 His divine power hath given unto
us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the
knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue. 4 Thereby are
given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these you
might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust.
5 And besides this, using all diligence, add to your faith virtue,
and to virtue knowledge, 6 and to knowledge temperance, and to
temperance patience, and to patience godliness, 7 and to godliness
brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these
things be in you and abound, they make you that ye shall be neither
barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But
he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off, and hath
forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Therefore brethren,
give diligence all the more to make your calling and election sure, for
if ye do these things ye shall never fall. 11 For so an entrance shall
be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting Kingdom of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
1 "When Israel was a child, then I loved him,
and called My son out of Egypt.
2 As they called them, so they went from them;
they sacrificed unto the Baalim, and burned incense to graven
3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms;
but they knew not that I healed them.
4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love;
and I was to them as they that take off the yoke from their jaws,
and I laid meat before them.
5 "He shall not return into the land of Egypt;
but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to
6 And the sword shall abide on his cities,
and shall consume his branches and devour them, because of their own
7 And My people are bent on backsliding from Me;
though they called them to the Most High, none at all would exalt
8 "How shall I give thee up, Ephraim?
How shall I deliver thee, Israel?
How shall I make thee as Admah?
How shall I set thee as Zeboiim?
Mine heart is turned within Me;
My repentings are kindled together.
9 I will not execute the fierceness of Mine anger,
I will not return to destroy Ephraim;
for I am God, and not man, the Holy One in the midst of thee;
and I will not enter into the city.
10 "They shall walk after the LORD; He shall
roar like a lion.
When He shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of
the land of Assyria;
and I will place them in their houses," saith the LORD.
12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies,
and the house of Israel with deceit;
but Judah yet ruleth with God,
and is faithful with the saints.
6 Therefore turn thou to thy God; keep mercy and judgment, and
wait on thy God continually.
Words of Wisdom -
Wisdom of Solomon 17:11-12
For wickedness, condemned by her own
witness, is very timorous, and being pressed by conscience, always
forecasteth grievous things. For fear is nothing else but a betraying
of the succors which reason offereth.
