Scripture Reading for
Common Calendar Year
(beginning January 1st)
Authorized VersionTM NAVTM)
According to the Common Calendar
1 O give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name;
make known His deeds among the people.
2 Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him;
talk ye of all His wondrous works.
3 Glory ye in His holy name;
let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
4 Seek the LORD and His strength;
seek His face evermore.
5 Remember His marvelous works that He hath done,
His wonders and the judgments of His mouth,
6 O ye seed of Abraham, His servant,
ye children of Jacob, His chosen.
7 He is the LORD our God;
His judgments are over all the earth.
8 He hath remembered His covenant for ever,
the word which He commanded to a thousand generations,
9 which covenant He made with Abraham,
and His oath unto Isaac,
10 and confirmed the same unto Jacob as a law,
and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, "Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan,
the lot of your inheritance,"
12 when they were but a few men in number,
yea, very few and strangers in it.
13 When they went from one nation to another,
from one kingdom to another people,
14 He suffered no man to do them wrong;
yea, He reproved kings for their sakes,
15 saying, "Touch not Mine anointed,
and do My prophets no harm."
16 Moreover He called for a famine upon the land;
He broke the whole staff of bread.
17 He sent a man before them,
even Joseph who was sold as a servant,
18 whose feet they hurt with fetters;
he was laid in irons.
19 Until the time when his word came to pass,
the word of the LORD tried him.
20 The king sent and loosed him, even the ruler of the people,
and let him go free.
21 He made him lord of his house
and ruler of all his possessions,
22 to command his princes at his pleasure
and teach his elders wisdom.
25 Then said some of them from Jerusalem, "Is not
this he whom they seek to kill? 26 But lo, he speaketh boldly, and they
say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very
Christ? 27 Yet we know from whence this man comes; but when Christ
cometh, no man will know from whence He comes."
28 Then Jesus cried out
in the temple as He taught, saying, "Ye both know Me, and ye know
from whence I am. And I am not come of Myself, but He that sent Me is
true, whom ye know not. 29 But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He
hath sent Me."
30 Then they sought to take Him; but no man laid hands
on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 And many of the people
believed in Him and said, "When Christ cometh, will He do more
miracles than these which this man hath done?" 32 The Pharisees
heard that the people murmured such things concerning Him, and the
Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. 33 Then said
Jesus unto them,
"Yet a little while
am I with you, and then I go unto Him that sent Me. 34 Ye shall seek
Me, and shall not find Me; and where I am, thither ye cannot
35 Then the Jews said among themselves, "Whither
will he go that we shall not find him? Will he go unto the dispersed
among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? 36 What manner of saying is
this that he said, `Ye shall seek me and shall not find me; and where I
am, thither ye cannot come'?"
2 Peter 1:12-18
12 Therefore I will not be negligent to put you always
in remembrance of these things, though ye know them and are strengthened
in the present truth. 13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this
tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance, 14 knowing
that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus
Christ hath shown me. 15 Moreover I will endeavor that you may be able
after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables
when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For He received from
God the Father honor and glory when there came such a voice to Him from
the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well
pleased." 18 And this voice, which came from Heaven, we heard when
we were with Him on the holy mount.
4 "Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and
thou shalt know no god but Me;
for there is no savior besides Me.
5 "I knew thee in the wilderness,
in the land of great drought.
6 According to their pasture, so were they filled;
they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they
7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion;
as a leopard by the way will I observe them.
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and
will rend the caul of their heart,
and there will I devour them like a lion; the beast of the field
shall tear them.
9 "O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself,
but in Me is thine help.
10 I will be thy King. Where is any other that may save thee in all
and thy judges of whom thou saidst, `Give me a king and
11 I gave thee a king in Mine anger,
and took him away in My wrath.
1 O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God,
for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD;
say unto Him, "Take away all iniquity and receive us
graciously, so will we offer the calves of our lips.
3 Assyria shall not save us;
we will not ride upon horses,
neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, `Ye are our
for in Thee the fatherless findeth mercy."
4 "I will heal their backsliding, I will love
for Mine anger is turned away from him.
5 I will be as the dew unto Israel;
he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
6 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive
and his smell as Lebanon.
They that dwell under his shadow shall return. They shall revive as
the corn and grow as the vine;
the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
8 Ephraim shall say, `What have I to do any more with idols?'
I have heard him, and observed him;
I am like a green fir tree.
From Me is thy fruit found."
9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things?
Prudent, and he shall know them?
For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them;
but the transgressors shall fall therein.
