The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

1 Corinthians 3:1-15

1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk and not with meat; for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able, 3 for ye are yet carnal. For if there is among you envying and strife and divisions, are ye not carnal and walk as men? 4 For while one saith, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are ye not carnal? 5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye came to believe, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then, neither is he that planteth anything, nor he that watereth, but God who giveth the increase. 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one, and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are laborers together with God; ye are God's husbandry; ye are God's building.

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For no man can lay another foundation than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, 13 every man's work shall be made manifest; for the Day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall test every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as fire.

Psalm 33:12-22

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
and the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.

13 The LORD looketh down from heaven;
He beholdeth all of the sons of men.
14 From the place of His habitation
He looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
15 He fashioneth the hearts of all;
He considereth all their works.

16 No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
17 A horse is a vain thing for safety;
neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear Him,
upon them that hope in His mercy,
19 to deliver their soul from death,
and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
because we have trusted in His holy name.
22 Let Thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us,
according as we hope in Thee.

Words of Worship - Luke 4:18a

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
because He hath anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor.

Luke 4:38-44

38 And He arose out of the synagogue and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought Him for her. 39 And He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

40 Now when the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them, and healed them. 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out and saying, "Thou art Christ, the Son of God!" And He, rebuking them, suffered them not to speak; for they knew that He was Christ.

42 And when it was day, He departed and went into a desert place. And the people sought Him and came unto Him and would have stayed Him, that He should not depart from them. 43 But He said unto them,

"I must preach the Kingdom of God to other cities also, for therefore am I sent."

44 And He preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 33:14

Good is set against evil, and life against death;
so is the godly against the sinner, and the sinner against the godly.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 15:18-20

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile a man. But to eat with unwashed hands defileth not a man."
