The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
1 Corinthians 10:14-22
14 Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. 16 The cup of
blessing which we bless: is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The
bread which we break: is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we,
being many, are one bread and one body, for we are all partakers of that one
Bread. 18 Behold Israel according to the flesh: are not those who eat of the
sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What say I then? That the idol is
anything, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything? 20 But I
say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils and
not to God; and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21 Ye
cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils; ye cannot be partakers
of the Lord's table and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to
jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
Psalm 116:12-19
12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all His
benefits toward me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the
LORD.
14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD
now, in the presence of all His people.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of
His saints.
16 O LORD, truly I am Thy servant;
I am Thy servant and the son of Thine handmaid;
Thou hast loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to Thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and will call upon the name of the LORD.
18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD
now in the presence of all His people,
19 in the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of thee, O
Jerusalem.
Praise ye the LORD!
Words of Worship - John 14:23b
"If a man love Me, he
will keep My words; and My Father will love him, and We will come
unto him and make Our abode with him.
Luke 6:43-49
43 "For a good tree
bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good
fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For from thorns men do not
gather figs, nor from a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45 A good man out of
the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil
man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil;
for of the abundance of his heart his mouth speaketh.
46 "And why call ye Me,
`Lord, Lord,' and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to Me,
and heareth My sayings and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like: 48
He is like a man who built a house and dug deep and laid the foundation on a
rock; and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house and
could not shake it, for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth,
and doeth not, is like a man that built a house without a foundation upon the
earth, against which the stream beat vehemently, and immediately it fell. And
the ruin of that house was great."
Words of Wisdom - Wisdom of Solomon 16:13
For Thou hast power of life and death;
Thou leadest to the gates of hell and bringest up again.
Jesus Speaks
Morals & Values - Matthew 21:28-32
even as the Son of Man
came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life as a
ransom for many."
And as they departed from Jericho, a great
multitude followed Him. And behold, two blind men were sitting by the wayside
when they heard that Jesus was passing by, and they cried out, saying, "Have
mercy on us, O Lord, Thou Son of David!" And the multitude rebuked them, that
they should hold their peace; but they cried out the more, saying, "Have mercy
on us, O Lord, Thou Son of David!" And Jesus
stood still, and called them and said,
"What will ye that
I shall do unto you?"
